Kevin Muscat Calls for Attractive Football from A-League Teams

Kevin Muscat is of the opinion that the Australian A-League has to become much more attractive in order to become the best football league in the side of the world. After the tremendous winning came to an end with the loss against Perth Glory, Melbourne Victory have the chance to close the gap on Melbourne City in the next few weeks. City are only two points ahead in the third place. Even though this was a frustrating result for the team, Kevin Muscat says that he was quite disappointed with the defensive approach of Perth Glory.

After having witnessed Melbourne Victory score five against the likes of Central Coast coming into this game, it was fair to expect a defensive performance from Perth Glory. However, Kevin Muscat did not expect such a poor performance from the hosts going forward. Perth Glory were even unable to enjoy 50% of the ball in the 90 minutes. They managed to score the only goal of the game just before half-time to deal a major blow for victory. Andy Keogh came up with the only goal of the game. This is the third major player that will be out of the team with Robbie Rogers and Zardes already out of the team. Rogers is out following a surgery on his ankle back in December, and Zardes just had surgery this month.

LA Galaxy coach said that the injury to Ashley Cole would be a massive loss for the team especially with other defenders out of the team. However, he believes that there is enough quality in the team to cover for these absences and he thinks that the team will be able to cope.

LA GALAXY ACQUIRE JONES’ MLS RIGHTS

The LA Galaxy have acquired the rights to midfielder Jermaine Jones from the Colorado Rapids, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Galaxy sent their first-round pick in the 2017 MLS Super Draft and a conditional second-round pick in the 2018 draft to the Rapids in exchange for his MLS rights. He still has to come to terms with the club, and it’s unclear whether he’ll secure a Designated Player deal, such as the one he had with the New England Revolution.

He took a significant pay cut to join the Rapids but expressed a desire for a more lucrative deal in the aftermath of the club’s elimination in the Western Conference final.

Bruce Arena Gives Reserve Players Opportunities against FC Dallas

After having qualified for the 2016 MLS Cup, there is little pressure on LA Galaxy in the remaining matches of the regular season.

As a result, manager Bruce Arena decided to field a number of reserve players in the goalless draw with FC Dallas. The last two games of the regular season will merely serve as opportunities for the manager to give some game time to the reserve players. After having secured a draw with FC Dallas, the club will be hoping for a strong start to the play-off campaign with a win against Real Salt Lake in the finals.

Since there was little to play, both teams did not go with the best eleven but it was clear after the game that FC Dallas were the disappointed of the two. Dallas were hoping that they would continue their form at the top of the table. A.J. DeLaGarza, meanwhile, claimed that it was Dallas who had approached the game in a defensive manner. As it is, fans witnessed only three shots on target from both teams and it was an extremely boring affair. Dave Romney and Rafael Garcia are some of the names who have managed to benefit from Arena changing the team for the game.
