LA GALAXY LOSE LAST PRESEASON MATCH

In what was their last match before the kick-off of the 2019 Major league soccer (MLS) season, Los Angeles Galaxy lost 3-1 to the Colorado Rapid during the weekend at Dignity Health Sports Park.Galaxy were without several key players including Sebastian Lletget, Perry Kitchen, Junnho, Giovani dos Santos and Jonathan dos Santos. They were all listed as unavailable for the contest. The tie was a test of the team’s depth, specially in the midfield, anda stern test for coach Guillermo Barros

Schelotto, may eventually need to rotate is squad, when the pressure of a crowded schedule increases. In the 15th minute of the tie goalkeeper David Bingham was substituted off, after he was on the receiving end of a fierce shot which struck his face. He was replaced for the remainder of the game by Matt Lampson. Noupdate as was giving as to the injury sustained by Bingham after the match, but he left the field on his own.

Colorado Rapids new signing from VancouverWhitecaps Kei Kamara, scored the game’s opener in the 42nd minute, after wading off Galaxy defender Jorgen Skjelvik on a header. Minutes later, Kamara denied Zlatan Ibrahimovic a goal scoring opportunity.

Another new signing Diego Rubio, doubled Colorado’s lead in the 69thminute after beating Galaxy defender Daniel Steres to the ball and dinking it overLampson’s head into the back of the net. Galaxy, who were on under immense pressure, responded to a vocal crowd at Dignity Health Sports Park, as veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic found a response for the Galaxy fans in the 77th minute,reducing the deficit after aheaded goalover Colorado defender and Swedish Compatriot Axel Sjoberg.

Rubio ended the hopes of a Galaxy comeback in the 85th minute, when Andre Shinyashiki banked on an error fromDaniel Steres, and made a pass to Rubio who played it into theback of the net to seal the match.

Los Angeles Galaxy MLS campaign kicks off on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, when they host the Chicago Fire at Dignity Health Sports Park.
