Anderlecht Deal Falls Through

Sacha Kljestan of Anderlecht was a player that was consistently being linked with LA Galaxy as the team of the MLS was interested in signing the 28 year old American midfielder but a deal could never be completed and according to the head coach of the squad Bruce Arena, he stated that a transaction was not able to be finalized due to ‘’forces out’’ of the reach of the club.

LA Galaxy’s Bruce Arena said: “We were close. There were just forces in the league that prevented us from doing this. I won’t even go into the details, but that’s the reason. Our organization, we did everything possible to secure and player, and, unfortunately, there were forces fighting real hard not to let that happen. And, subsequently, it did not.”

Those were the details released by the head coach of LA Galaxy, Bruce Arena as he talked to reporters during one of the latest training sessions of his club at the StubHub Center.

A few weeks ago Landon Donovan released his plans of stepping down and retire from playing competitive football. The veteran attacker was especially surprised after hearing news concerning Jurgen Klinsmann decision to not include him in the American squad that was going to represent USA in the 2014 and now at his 32 years of age, he has decided to hang up his boots and call it a day.

Bruce Arena expressed his emotions as he told reporters just how much of an impact Donovan has personally made in his own life: “It’s really hard to respond to that. There are people in our lives that make a difference, and he has as a player, and as a person. I’ve seen him as a young kid, now I see him as a man, seeing him at the end of a career. It’s unbelievably ironic that I’ve seen him as a baby in this sport and now a man that’s leaving’’
