25 Thoughts on HIGHLIGHTS: New York Red Bulls vs New England Revolution | April 20, 2013

  1. Love the COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE of the Rev’s announcers to notice the Brandon Barklage own goal. haha. They live up to expectations don’t they!

  2. That’s right – I think the rivalries must be allowed to form naturally (and they will).

The roots of a genuine rivalry are often outside of football.

    Celtic (catholic) v Rangers (protestant)
    Madrid (Spanish) v Barcelona (Catalan)
England v Germany (World War II)

  3. Quite right – the two towns are way too far apart for a “turf war” – like, say Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic (look down on Google Earth at Glasgow, and you can see both grounds). Man City and Man Utd obviously.

I can see why they’re doing it, the grounds are always packed during derby games in Europe and South America. But hundreds of miles separating two towns is hardly going to make an instant rivalry.

  4. If you’re not sure who your rivals are, then they’re not really rivals.

When Sunderland beat Newcastle 3-0 on their own turf the other day, one Newcastle fan punched a horse in the face after the game!
I can’t really see that kind of thing happening in MLS (I know that some NHL finals have prompted disgraceful scenes).

  5. yep i agree, this is really fantastic. Listen, it’s way easier than i thought do a few surveys and boom a few $100 extra in your bank every week. if you wanna try just try now: bit.ly/13ZKSHg?=whszh

  6. Because of the close distances. However I don’t see neither Philly nor Revs are NY’s true rival. Hell, I don’t even see DC as our rival either because they’re much better in accomplishments than us. If anything I consider the Fire as out true rivals. Greatest city vs Second city.

  7. Arsenal fan here. Classic RVP Goal for United yesterday. On the volley! GD I miss him. And congrats on the title!

  8. Sitting right next to Revolution fans… “THANK YOU RED BLLS!” Never thought I’d hear that.

  9. he should continue to increase the standard in the MLS and introduce europe to more players like donovan, dempsey and bradley
