Bruce Arena Gives Reserve Players Opportunities against FC Dallas

After having qualified for the 2016 MLS Cup, there is little pressure on LA Galaxy in the remaining matches of the regular season.

As a result, manager Bruce Arena decided to field a number of reserve players in the goalless draw with FC Dallas. The last two games of the regular season will merely serve as opportunities for the manager to give some game time to the reserve players. After having secured a draw with FC Dallas, the club will be hoping for a strong start to the play-off campaign with a win against Real Salt Lake in the finals.

Since there was little to play, both teams did not go with the best eleven but it was clear after the game that FC Dallas were the disappointed of the two. Dallas were hoping that they would continue their form at the top of the table. A.J. DeLaGarza, meanwhile, claimed that it was Dallas who had approached the game in a defensive manner. As it is, fans witnessed only three shots on target from both teams and it was an extremely boring affair. Dave Romney and Rafael Garcia are some of the names who have managed to benefit from Arena changing the team for the game.

Ashley Cole and Nigel de Jong in the wish-list of LA Galaxy

The Major League Soccer has had an ongoing tendency of attracting veteran high profile players to the American League and LA Galaxy is on the verge of signing a few well known performers during this winter transfer window.

Ashley Cole recently terminated his contract with As.Roma and the experienced defender is rumored to be in the wish-list of LA Galaxy and a deal is believed to be in the works. If reports are indeed true then Ashley Cole should be able to wear the jersey of LA Galaxy and represent the American club within the next few days.

The 35 year old defender was not able to snatch consistent playing time with As.Roma and he decided to part ways with the Italian club. At such an elevated age, Ashle Cole wants to spend his time with a club that he can play an important role and be a regular starter, this wasn’t happening for him with As.Roma as he was a substitute player.

Ac.Milan’s Nigel de Jong is another one of the players who isnt getting much time in the pitch with his club and LA Galaxy are setting their sights in the Dutch midfielder.

Nigel de Jong has a contract with Ac.Milan which runs until 2018 but considering how much he has fallen down in the pecking order of the Italian club, a move away from San Siro could indeed occur.

GONZALEZ RULED OUT

US international centre back Omar Gonzalez suffered an injury during the recent training session for LA Galaxy. It has sparked rumours that the player could miss the preliminary squad for the World Cup 2014. LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena, though, has said that the injury will not be serious as initially feared. This will come as a major boost not only for the US soccer fans, but also for manager Jurgen Klinsmann. The US will have a very tough World Cup ahead of them.

They will be coming up against Portugal, Germany, and Ghana in the group stages. This is seen as the group of death for this World Cup. However, Klinsmann has been sounding extremely confident about his team’s chances of progressing to the quarter-finals. He says that a lot of will depend upon the first game of the tournament against Ghana. If the US take three points from this match, then they could be potentially looking at progression.
