JAVIER HERNANDEZ WON’T FORM PART OF MEXICO’S WORLD CUP SQUAD, SAYS MARTINO

LA Galaxy striker Javier Hernandez won’t form part of Mexico’s World Cup squad, says national boss Gerardo Martino. Despite being El Tri’s all-time top scorer with 52 goals, the 34-year-old is set to be one of the big name absentees from this winter’s showpiece in Qatar. Martino has four centre-forwards in training for Mexico’s World Cup warm-up matches this week but the former Barcelona manager has confirmed that he will take only three strikers to Qatar.

However, Martino has confirmed that the door is firmly shut on Hernandez potentially playing in a fourth World Cup. Martino delivered the crushing news to Hernandez via a press conference which was held at LA Galaxy’s home ground, from which the Little Pea currently plays his club football. Chicharito hasn’t represented his country for three years with Martino at the helm, and there is every possibility the poacher has played his last game for his beloved Mexico.

LA GALAXY GET INTO HOT WATER OVER LA GALAXY II VENUE SEARCH

The LA Galaxy organization spoke up on Monday about a story that had broken open days earlier, concerning an alleged effort by the club to undercut local rivals and effectively evict them from their home venue starting next year. On Friday, USL Championship defending champion Orange County SC announced the Galaxy had submitted a proposal for their reserve team to play at Championship Soccer Stadium at Orange County Great Park in Irvine starting in 2023.

The issue at hand was that the Galaxy’s proposal to the City of Irvine, which owns the venue, was for exclusive use of the stadium, which would therefore evict Orange County SC from the stadium they’ve called home since 2017, as well as NISA side California Strikers United FC, who hosted the Galaxy first team at the venue earlier this year in a U.S. Open Cup match.

LA GALAXY EYEING THIRD SUCCESSIVE WIN

LA Galaxy are eyeing a third consecutive victory ahead of their home game with Portland Timbers on Saturday. The MLS football giants have won their last two games in all competitions ahead of the visit of Portland Timbers.

The current two-match winning run at LA Galaxy is on the back of the disappointing 3-0 defeat to Houston Dynamo. LA Galaxy were convincingly beaten at home by Houston Dynamo in the league thereby losing ground on the top teams as far as the Western Conference log is concerned. Paraguayan striker Sebastian Ferreira scored the opener for Houston Dynamo on the way to the big away win over LA Galaxy.

TOTTENHAM IN TALKS WITH MLS CLUB FOR PLAYER EXCHANGE

The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with MLS club Orlando City regarding a player exchange arrangement at youth level. Like many clubs in the Premier League, Spurs have a policy of loaning their academy starlets to lower league teams to gain experience.

On rare occasions, the Lilywhites also loan their up and coming youth players to foreign clubs in order to play competitive football. That was the case with goalkeeper Brandon Austin, who spent last season on loan at Orlando City, making five appearances in the MLS (transfermarkt).

DOUGLAS COSTA SEALS MOVE TO LA GALAXY

Brazilian winger and former Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa has sealed a transfer to the United States Major League Soccer, joining Los Angeles Galaxy. The forward has been finding it hard to stay at one club for a llg time and has been switching clubs for most parts of his peak years as a professional footballer. Signed from Bayern Munich some years ago by Juventus, he failed to nail down a starting berth at the Old Lady and it was the same reason that saw him sold by the German Bundesliga giants. After joining Juve, Costa was an exciting player to watch as he had the pace and the tricks of proper Brazilian superstar. He could best his man and either score a goal, create a chance, or record an assist.

Hiwrvwr, he began to lose form and with the competition for places in the Juve squad very tight, he lost his opportunity to become a regular starter at the club. Upon his return to the managerial role at the club, Massimiliano Allegro deemed the winger surplus to requirements at the Turin club and he passed a clear message across to the Samba star to start looking for another club. He eventually joined a club in his native Brazil on loan but the deal was not made permanent after the expiry of the agreement so he returned to Juventus after the loan spell.

DONOVAN: LA GALAXY STATUE UNVEILED

Landon Donovan got a well deserved recognition after his statue was unveiled by MLS football giants Los Angeles Galaxy (LA Galaxy) earlier this week. Donovan is not only seen as the best player in the history of LA Galaxy, but the retired United States of America (USA) international is also seen as the best player to ever grace MLS football.

LA Galaxy honoured Landon Donovan for one week which was capped by the unveiling of his statue and his place in the ring of honour. The unveiling took place at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

MATA NO LONGER EXPECTED TO MAKE MLS MOVE

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is no longer expected to leave the club anytime soon, contrary to reports that he could be leaving Old Trafford and nearing a move to the United States Major League Soccer. The Spanish midfielder is already confirmed to no longer be a key player under United manager Olé Gunnar Solksjaer but the Norwegian boss believes that he could still be able to count on the former Chelsea man this season. The attacking midfielder was handed a new contract just before the end of last season and was told that he could still be called upon to play in a couple of games this season as Olé wants to keep a big squad.

Mata’s contract extension was one that would last for just one year and after it expires, he would not leave the club. Instead, he would be handed a more advanced role at Old Trafford on his way to becoming a key figure at the club. He was linked with a move to Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy and was also rumored to be closing in on a move to the United States outfit but he remained under the management of Solksjaer and agreed to continue being a Manchester United player.

HOW WILL ZLATAN BE REMEMBERED AT LA GALAXY

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not only one of the most lethal and prolific strikers of his generation, but he is also one of the most controversial footballers of all time. He has a dramatic way of infusing his talent and controversy into his game and it is one of the numerous traits that make him stand out from other football stars. Despite being one of the best strikers of all time, he is rarely talked about and the reason for that has been largely credited to how he has a sarcastic answer or response to every question thrown at him or just any random sarcastic statement during an interview or press conference.

The striker has played for a host of top clubs in his amazing career and they include the likes of Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, United States Major League Soccer giants Los Angeles Galaxy, and of course, he’s currently having his second stint with AC Milan.

NEMANJA MATIC ATTRACTING INTEREST FROM LA GALAXY

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic continues to look increasingly likely to leave Old Trafford this summer and there are a number of clubs interested in signing him. The Serbia international star is currently in the final few months of his current contract and there are currently no signs forthcoming that he will be offered a new contract extension at the club. Talks over a new deal have not been activated and with Solksjær seemingly not interested in retaining the services of the former Chelsea midfielder, he could be exiting the Theater of Dreams.

Matic is not the only midfield star that has been linked with an Old Trafford exit, with Spanish star Juan Mata also set to be on the move away from the club at the end of the season. The 32-year-old is a transfer target for German Bundesliga club Frankfurt as the German outfit look to bolster their midfield department ahead of next season.

LA GALAXY LINKED TO SHOCK MOVE FOR HAZARD

In what will come as a shocking piece of news, the United States Major League Soccer giants Los Angeles Galaxy football club have appeared as a possible destination for Real Madrid star Eden Hazard. The Belgium international forward has not made the sort of impact that was expected of him after leaving Chelsea and sealing a move to the Santiago Bernabeu some months ago.

The forward has also struggled with injuries throughout his stay in Spain and has been in and out of the squad as well. His injury problems have evolved in the last months and the signs have not been encouraging at all. However, in the last weeks, he has made significant progress in returning to full fitness and has been involved in two of Real Madrid’s last two matches.
